Travel Information

Everything you need to know to prepare for take off.

Baggage

Baggage Allowance

All fares include carry-on and checked baggage. Each passenger (excluding infants)
is allowed:

Carry-On Baggage:
Up to two items, with a combined total weight of 7kg.

Checked Baggage:
Up to 23kg total, limited to two items.

Mobility Aids and Strollers

Wheelchairs, other mobility aids and strollers are essential items and do not count towards your baggage allowance.

Oversized Baggage

Some large items (such as instruments or sporting equipment) can be included in your checked baggage allowance. Other items may need to be sent as freight.

Excess and Overweight Baggage

Extra bags and heavy Items over 23kg will incur a fee and will depend on space available.

  •  Each extra bag is $130 per piece.
  • Bags weighing over 23kg (up to a maximum of 32kg) incur a $50 heavy item charge.
  • No single item may exceed 32kg.

Reporting Damage or Loss

Baggage claims must be reported within 
24 hours of arrival.

Report to East Air staff on arrival, or email photographic evidence (taken at the airport) to hello@eastair.com.au.

Check In and Airports

Check In

Check in closes 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. You will be required to provide identification to check in.

We recommend you are checked in with bags dropped at least 60 minutes before the schedule departure time.

Airport Terminals

Flights from Cairns depart and arrive from the General Aviation side of Cairns Airport

All other flights depart and arrive at the airport stated in the itinerary.

Onward Travel

East Air does not guarantee flight connections with other airlines. It is the responsibility of the passenger to allow adequate time for connecting flights.

We recommend travel insurance.

Families and Carers

Travelling with Kids

Infants (under 2) and children must travel with a parent, or immediate family member / authorised guardian (aged 15 or over).

Only one infant permitted per adult passenger, and East Air must be notified ahead of travel.

Unaccompanied Minors

Children (aged 2 to 11) travelling alone must be accepted by East Air for carriage as an unaccompanied minor.

The parent or guardian must contact us to arrange this and pay an additional fee.

Special Assistance

Passengers who cannot travel independently should be accompanied by a carer who can support them to travel safely.

East Air may be able to provide limited assistance at some airports.

Schedule Changes

Delays

Passengers will be notified of schedule changes by SMS and email.

If a delay (of over 2 hours) is made more than 24 hours prior to departure, affected customers may:

  • Cancel for a refund or credit
  • Move to another flight on the same route

Flight cancellations

If a flight is cancelled we will move you to another flight on the same day, if possible. Affected customers may:

  • Cancel for a refund or credit
  • Move to another flight on the same route

If required, we will arrange accommodation aligned with our Disrupt Policy.

Passenger changes and cancellations

Passengers can make changes and cancellations prior to the scheduled departure, aligned with the fare type booked. Note that fees may apply. For more information please contact us.
